We offer many delicious dishes and snacks as well as a cosy environment with a fireplace and an old half-timbered house style.

A large selection of beer and wine awaits you, as well as one of the largest selections of different types of whisky in the Harz Mountains.
That's why we offer a special beer and whisky tasting for you to try as much as you like.

You can also get a delicious espresso or coffee from us and enjoy it on our sun terrace.

About us and the bistro

Our family

We, Maren, Sven and the two older children Meno and Milan Peemöller, rent out 8 log cabins and a holiday flat in Hahnenklee as a family. Now we have added a bistro with a bar and an adventure golf course. We were all born in Hamburg and live in Bad Oldesloe, between Hamburg and Lübeck.

The origin of Harzliebe

I, Sven, have been coming to Hahnenklee as a guest since I was 3 or 4 years old. My parents used to take me and my two brothers on holiday to the beautiful Hahnenklee holiday park every spring and autumn. It was always a great time. From 1984, when I was 15, I took a break for a while. But I never let go of Hahnenklee and the whole Harz region.

My own love

I met my wife Maren in 1993. After a week, we spent our first weekend together, naturally in Hahnenklee in the Harz Mountains. Since that weekend, Hahnenklee has cast a spell over me again. Fortunately, my wife Maren is just as enthusiastic about Hahnenklee as I am. From then on, I travelled regularly to the Harz Mountains again, now with my wife. Our first son Meno was born in 1995 and our second son Milan in 1998, so we regularly travelled to the Harz Mountains as a family, as I did with my parents back then.

How the hut came to Hahnenklee

As we had learned to love and appreciate the beautiful hut culture from our skiing holidays, we wanted to bring this culture to Hahnenklee too. So in 2012 we decided to build a large chalet ourselves from real logs, each with a sauna and a fireplace, in Hahnenklee.

As the demand for slightly smaller log cabins in the same style was constantly increasing, we decided to build similar, slightly smaller log cabins in Hahnenklee in 2017.

In 2018, our son Meno also bought a holiday flat in Hahnenklee to rent out. This is a very good reflection of the Peemöller family's attachment to the village of Hahnenklee.

Why a lounge and a mini golf course?

We have been asking all our guests for feedback since 2013. The feedback from our guests is always similar. The following two points were almost always mentioned:

1. our guests want a modern, open-plan restaurant/bistro with modern cuisine and a great bar, where they would like to linger after their meal. Unfortunately, there is still no such thing in Hahnenklee.

2) The town of Hahnenklee could do with some more highlights in addition to the many existing attractions.

Now, with the new "1894 Bistro & Bar" and the adventure golf course, we would like to fulfil the needs of our guests and, of course, all other guests. Our new restaurant "1894 Bistro & Bar" will have a fireplace, a lounge corner and a large sun terrace with deckchairs, parasols, a biker bar, etc. With this project, we are closing another gap in Hahnenklee to make the whole place even more attractive for all guests. As we as a family have our hearts set on Hahnenklee, we will also manage the new project ourselves.
