The line-up for the MDR HARZ OPEN AIR 2024 in Wernigerode has been finalised: Tim Bendzko, Juli and Keimzeit are the headliners of the popular open-air festival at the end of the summer. The children's programme kicks off on Saturday afternoon - as always at the MDR HARZ OPEN AIR - with the group "Honigkuchenpferd", a live music act especially for the youngest guests and their families. A band from the region, which MDR SACHSEN-ANHALT is giving a major performance, will complement the programme.

The MDR HARZ OPEN AIR 2024 will once again be hosted by Susi Brandt, presenter of the TV magazine programme MDR SACHSEN-ANHALT HEUTE, and her radio colleague Lars Wohlfarth, the MDR SACHSEN-ANHALT morning presenter.

TIM BENDZKO has strongly influenced German-language pop music over the last ten years. With his music and his words, he has found a language that is special: full of poetry, honest and direct. Bendzko's lines are characterised by emotion, courage and attitude. "Actually, I only write songs about things that move me - and many people seem to recognise themselves in them," says the artist. Tim Bendzko has countless chart successes, gold and platinum discs and awards to his name. The Berliner has managed to do what very few can: he has always remained relevant over the years. His long-awaited fifth studio album has now been released. 15 tracks tell of a back and forth of feelings that each of us has probably encountered in recent years. Emotional and trenchant songwriting meets a production that should go through your heart and soul. And: Tim Bendzko is of course going on tour again to coincide with his new album and can be experienced as a star guest in Wernigerode 2024. Of course, he will be performing "Nur mal kurz die Welt retten" and other hits such as "Wenn Worte meine Sprache wären" and "Am seidenen Faden".

JULI - the "Perfect Wave" once brought the breakthrough, and the MDR HARZ OPEN AIR 2024 will be the perfect place to celebrate a special anniversary: 20 years of JULI! The Giessen-based band have been known everywhere since the aforementioned song. They managed to touch the hearts of an entire generation and to experience and savour the perfect moment with an irrepressible longing. What followed was a huge wave of success on which Eva Briegel, Jonas Pfetzing, Simon Triebel, Andreas "Dedi" Herde and Marcel Römer surfed. After a total of three albums and numerous hits, quite a few of which became anthems, it was quiet for a while. Over the past few years, they have let a few dozen perfect waves pass by with a good feeling, away from the fast-moving carousel of show business. The contact between the band members has never been broken off: "We have often met and tried to develop a feeling for the musical direction Juli should take. We just followed our gut feeling and tried out a lot of things," says Simon Triebel, lyricist and guitarist in the band. And when you meet up and realise that things are starting to crackle again and you can't get your pen and paper to hand quickly enough to capture what's trying to break through, then it's time to blow the dust off the instruments and get back on the road as a band, as friends and mature personalities. This is now JULY 2023/2024 - and so they are coming to Wernigerode - and no hit will be missing from their programme: including "Dieses Leben", "Elektrisches Gefühl" and "Geile Zeit".

KEIMZEIT - Cult at the MDR HARZ OPEN AIR for the 3rd time! The band is finally part of the festival line-up in 2024! Songs that reflect our lives: sometimes ironic, sometimes playful and usually with a wink. Concerts that, in addition to tracks from the current album "Kein Fiasko", naturally offer a large cross-section through 4 decades of Keimzeit - from rocking to balladic and such a broad spectrum that shows that this band can hardly be pigeonholed. Whether with "Kling Klang" to Tierra del Fuego, on a ship to "Singapore" or with the "Hausmeister" to the "Berlinale": Keimzeit concerts are always special. They were so in 1980 in the pubs around Bad Belzig, the home of Keimzeit, still under the name "Jogger", and they are no less so today after almost 44 years. "Irrenhaus" was the name of the band's legendary debut album, an important album at the time of reunification in 1990 and somehow more relevant today than ever!

MDR SACHSEN-ANHALT always has a special focus on MUSIC FROM OUR COUNTRY. Bands, singers and music projects from Saxony-Anhalt are regularly highlighted in the podcast "Kluge's Rehearsal Room" as well as in the accompanying radio programme. Presenter Tobias Kluge wants to find out what drives the artists and why they make music. For the second time, "Kluge's Rehearsal Room" will be a springboard to the big stage in Bürgerpark. As in the MDR HARZ OPEN AIR anniversary year 2022, an act presented in the podcast, which will be announced soon, will also be given the event as a platform to present themselves in 2024.
There will also be something for younger guests and their families in Wernigerode in 2024. The band HONIGKUCHENPFERDE will be playing the best live music right at the start of the show in the afternoon.

HONIGKUCHENPFERDE can only grin? Not at all, honey cake horses can make really good music! They can celebrate exuberant parties! And they can sing lyrics that speak to kids from their souls and also appeal to adults. "Honigkuchenpferde" are Germany's new pop band for the whole family. In collaboration with great musical friends, including the Deutsches Kinderhilfswerk e.V., the group is constantly bringing new hits to the audience. With the Honigkuchenpferden, everything is a bit more colourful, where pop can sometimes be dark, then funnier, where pop often takes itself very seriously; excluding what is not relevant for kids and making big what appeals to everyone. This also applies to the Honigkuchenpferde concerts: With an imaginative and festival-ready live set, they invite you to dance, sing along and let off steam. Behind all the fun is a very serious concern: The Honigkuchenpferde want to help their friends from the Deutsches Kinderhilfswerk to bring children's rights into the German constitution. Bringing families together and strengthening children's rights at the same time is a matter close to their hearts.

In 2024, the MDR Harz Open Air with its artistic line-up will once again stand for the best current pop music and great hits of the past, appealing to both the local population and tourist guests in the Harz region.

Spend an unforgettable evening with us, our partners, the presenters and the artists in the natural ambience of the Bürgerpark and in front of the panorama of Wernigerode Castle®.
