Wernigerode Castle has remained a unique centre of fascination to this day. Its picturesque silhouette, the unique scenic location and the special and varied furnishings characterise it as an outstanding place to visit in the Harz Mountains.

The castle as a whole can look back on 800 years of history. However, it only acquired its unmistakable appearance in the 19th century thanks to the castle architect Carl Frühling. Over the last thirty years, work has continued on the restoration and redesign of the remarkable interiors.

The book "Schloss Wernigerode: Märchenschloss im Harz" (Wernigerode Castle: Fairytale Castle in the Harz Mountains) is the first comprehensive presentation of the results of this renovation in words and pictures. Janos Stekovics has captured the very special atmosphere of the castle and its interiors in sensitive and expressive photographs, while Christian Juranek describes the special quality of the castle experience after this decades-long process.
