Europe Month in Wernigerode

This year, the month of May is all about Europe. The town of Wernigerode, together with the Harz University of Applied Sciences, the History and Local History Association, Park und Garten GmbH and Wernigerode Tourismus GmbH, is organising a wide range of events. A star hike for young and old, the live broadcast of the Eurovision Song Contest, readings, a bike tour and much more can be experienced in Wernigerode in May.

The centrepiece is the outdoor exhibition on the Via Romea Germanica, the pilgrimage route that connects Europe across many national borders and also passes through Wernigerode. On display are large-format images of a pilgrimage from 2023, which travelled along the Via Romea, starting in the Harz Mountains, through Bavaria and the Alps to Rome. The pictures were taken by photographer Andreas Hillmann, who travelled alone for several weeks. The exhibition will be presented in the Bürgerpark and will then travel on to other locations, including the Harz University of Applied Sciences. Lord Mayor Tobias Kascha invites: "I would like to expressly thank everyone who has worked on this fantastic format. Every single event is centred around the European idea, which is exactly right now. May will be a special month for all of us and with a view to the European and local elections, I cordially invite you to experience Europe with us."

The opening of the exhibition on 3 May 2024 in the Bürgerpark Wernigerode marks the start of Europe Month in Wernigerode. A detailed programme of events will be published in all sources. With many appealing points, the European idea is to be carried into the city and the region.
