Swimming with a view of the Hohnstein castle ruins – you’ll only find that in Neustadt. For over 50 years, the Waldbad at the foot of the Hohnstein has been the summer meeting place for families, holidaymakers and visitors to the climatic health resort. Anyone who’s been here once will come back.

For the children, the day’s activities are quickly sorted: a water slide, a paddling pool, a diving area with 1- and 3-metre boards, plus a playground, football pitch, volleyball court and table tennis table. The grown-ups can relax on the large, peaceful sunbathing lawn with plenty of shade. On hot days, up to 1,300 visitors gather here – and yet everyone still manages to find their own quiet corner. A little tip for anyone wanting to stay a bit longer: the ‘Am Waldbad’ campsite is just 50 metres away.

Tip: Keep an eye out for events organised by the Friends’ Association – the Neptune Festival and night-time swimming are a real treat every year.
