Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of technology and experience at first hand how steam locomotives, diesel locomotives, railcars and passenger and goods wagons are serviced and maintained. Our historic workshop hall from 1926, an impressive industrial monument 70 metres long, 25 metres wide and 11 metres high, offers a unique backdrop for experiencing railway technology up close.

On a

guided tour, you will feel the impressive engineering skill and attention to detail that goes into every work process. Be amazed by the size and history of these technical masterpieces - an experience for all technology and history enthusiasts!

Since the opening of the ultra-modern steam locomotive workshop on 17 June 2022, it has been the heart of the Harz narrow-gauge railways. This is where the mighty steam locomotives, among others, are dismantled into their individual parts, refurbished and reassembled with precision. From the visitors' gallery, you can enjoy a unique view of the fascinating work processes!

But the experience doesn't end in the workshop! A small adventure land for railway fans of all ages awaits you in the adjoining outdoor area. A lovingly designed locomotive playground and interactive educational play walls offer fun and knowledge. In our ticket and souvenir shop, you can buy mementos and souvenirs. Have fun browsing.
