The ‘Alte Faktorei’ is no ordinary holiday home – this historic building combines the character of a traditional Harz half-timbered house with the atmosphere of a stylish boutique apartment block.
This historic half-timbered building is one of the town’s most distinctive structures. First mentioned as early as 1669, the ‘Alte Faktorei’ is one of the oldest buildings in the town and thus possesses a charm that modern holiday resorts can scarcely match.
A particular highlight is the exclusive, idyllic terrace right on the banks of the Kalte Bode. Here, guests can enjoy the soothing murmur of the torrent from close by. Whilst the riverside terrace is a cool, green retreat in summer, the surroundings are transformed in winter into a romantic snowy fairy-tale world, where hoarfrost, glittering snow crystals and long icicles create an unforgettable atmosphere.
The outdoor areas, comprising the cobbled courtyard and the terraces on the banks of the Kalte Bode, were completely redesigned in 2020. In 2024, the entire façade, including the slate-clad gable ends, was refurbished. The furnishings of the holiday flats have also been continuously modernised and maintained. Thanks to this meticulous upkeep, the historic character of both the exterior and interior has been impeccably preserved, whilst at the same time being combined with a high-end, modern standard of furnishings.
Today, the property comprises a total of six fully equipped holiday flats, characterised by an exceptionally spacious feel (with floor areas of up to 100 m²).
The interiors of the apartments captivate with their exclusive touch: part of the stylish décor consists of original and meticulously restored Venetian Baroque furniture, as well as exquisite antiques imported from northern Italy.
A truly unique feature ensuring cosy holiday comfort is that five of the holiday flats are fitted with their own wood-burning stoves. Furthermore, the units boast a sophisticated layout – three of the holiday apartments, for instance, are each fitted with two separate bathrooms and an additional guest WC to ensure maximum guest comfort.
