The "Grandfather's Round of Timmenrode" is considered a rather difficult hike, requires sturdy footwear of course and leads up and down almost 240 m in just over 3 hours. The hike leads, as the name suggests, along various sights along the so-called "Devil's Wall", which is considered one of the absolute attractions of the Harz region.

Shortly after the start at the bowling alley, after about 900 m you already reach the Kuhstall cave, which is considered a natural spectacle and highlight of the route in view of its size and shape. Only a few metres further along the crest of the Teufelsmauer, the rock "Hamburger Wappen" appears.

Continue along the Teufelsmauer to the magnificent Großvaterfelsen. Climbing it requires some strength. However, those who manage it are rewarded and enjoy a wonderful view of Blankenburg Castle. If you hike along the route a few kilometres further, you will see Blankenburg Castle, which was reported to have been built in the Baroque period and is partly freely accessible, viewed from a distance shortly before.

The last rock formation to be seen on this hiking trail is the Großmutterfelsen, which is also considered the last rock of the Teufelsmauer. It is partly accessible, but requires some strength and, of course, sturdy footwear. Finally, you return to the starting point at the bowling hall via the northern slope path, which is much cooler and shadier than the southern side, especially in summer. An ideal way to return after the strenuous hike!
