The "Grandfather's Round of Timmenrode" is considered a rather difficult hike, naturally requires sturdy footwear and takes you up and down almost 240 metres in just over 3 hours. As the name suggests, the hike leads along various sights along the so-called "Devil's Wall", which is considered one of the absolute attractions of the Harz region.

Shortly after the start at the Kegelhalle, you reach the Kuhstall cave after approx. 900 metres, which is a natural spectacle and highlight of the route due to its size and shape. The "Hamburger Wappen" rock appears just a few metres further along the ridge of the Teufelsmauer.

The route continues along the Devil's Wall to the magnificent Grandfather Rock. Climbing it requires some strength. But if you manage it, you will be rewarded with a marvellous view of Blankenburg Castle. If you walk a few kilometres further along the route, you will see Blankenburg Castle, which was built in the Baroque period and is partly freely accessible.

The last rock formation to be seen on this hiking trail is the Großmutterfelsen, which is also considered the last rock of the Teufelsmauer. It is partially accessible, but requires a certain amount of strength and, of course, sturdy footwear, before returning to the starting point at the Kegelhalle via the northern slope path, which is much cooler and shadier than the southern side, especially in summer. An ideal way back after an energy-sapping hike!
