The "Marienwand Runde von Oker" is particularly worthwhile for anyone who wants to enjoy a fascinating view of the Oker Valley , which is often described as "wild and romantic". The hiking trail starts at the bus stop in the southern part of Oker between the towns of Goslar and Bad Harzburg. The hike first leads closely along the eastern side of the Oker and later along the old Harz road to the "Blick in das Okertal" (view of the Oker valley), from where the entire valley along the Oker can be admired.

After about 3.5 kilometres, the trail continues to the next "View into the Oker Valley". From the viewpoint of the same name, you have a similar view of the Oker valley and the Oker reservoir. If you continue along the Oker to the southernmost point of the hike, you will reach the Romkerhalle and the waterfall. The rustic inn with hotel and restaurant markets itself as the smallest kingdom in the world and is the starting point for numerous other hikes. The waterfall, which is a short distance away, was artificially created in 1863 to make the establishment more attractive. Since then, the Romkerhall waterfall has fallen about 64 metres into the depths at this point as a veil cascade.

From here, the trail heads back towards the starting point, but along the western side of the Oker. The next highlight is the path to the engagement island and finally the engagement island itself. The island lies in the middle of the Oker as a small romantic island, which invites you to linger and relax with the sound of the water. The hike then continues close to the Oker past the balancing basin to the "romantic path through the Oker valley". The path is a beautiful finale after a strenuous hike between the Oker and Romkerhall and a must for visitors to the Harz at any time of year.

The last two highlights of the trail are the Marienklippe and the Adlerklippe further north. Climbers can be seen climbing on the rock faces at both of these cliffs, especially in the warmer months. If you don't want to do any sporting activities yourself, you can take a break and watch the climbers. After a few kilometres in a northerly direction, hikers return to the town of Oker and the hiking route ends.
