Goslar is a town with a long history and rich culture. The town was founded as a settlement as early as the 9th century, and in the 11th century it developed into an important imperial palace of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation. From the 13th century, Goslar also assumed the function of an imperial city and was thus one of the most important political centres of the empire. In the years that followed, the town experienced an economic boom, particularly due to the utilisation of the Rammelsberg as a mining area.
In the 19th century, Goslar experienced another economic boom, this time due to the establishment of industrial companies in the town. Numerous factories and plants were established at this time, some of which still exist today. In the 20th century, however, Goslar was badly affected by the turmoil of the Second World War and the post-war period, and it took until well into the 1970s for the town to recover. In recent years, Goslar has once again become a popular destination for tourists and holidaymakers. With its historic town centre and numerous sights and festivals, the town offers a wide range of activities for visitors of all ages. So let's get going - the town of Goslar in the Harz Mountains is waiting for you!
