Since Since its completion in December 2017, the multi-functional arena has been attracting thousands of visitors to the rustic Harz town of Schierke. In winter, you can skate 600 metres above sea level, you can ice skate, curling, dance at ice discos or take an ice skating course. In summer the arena is a paradise for roller skating, trampoline and bouldering fans. A colourful mix of cultural and sporting events round off the programme.

The modern design was chosen as a conscious complement to the traditional winter sports winter sports resort. The first ice rink was built here as early as 1909. Only one year followed only a year later by the conversion into a natural ice stadium, where ice hockey was was played for decades. In 1950, the stadium was even the venue for the first winter sports winter sports championships in the GDR.

Today the filigree roof construction offers a view of the slopes of the Upper Harz Mountains and the the Schierk sky: Here you can enjoy the day and admire the spectacular architecture of the multifunctional arena. When darkness falls the arena turns into a beautifully illuminated ambience and invites you to linger. and invites you to linger and enjoy.
