The "Marienwand Runde von Oker" is particularly worthwhile for anyone who wants to enjoy a fascinating view of the Oker valley , which is often described as "wild and romantic". The hiking trail starts at the bus stop in the southern part of Oker between the towns of Goslar and Bad Harzburg. The hike initially leads closely along the eastern side of the Oker and later along the old Harz road to the "View into the Oker Valley", from where you can marvel at the entire valley along the Oker.

The route continues for around 3.5 kilometres to the next "View into the Oker Valley". From the viewpoint of the same name, you can enjoy a similar view of the Oker valley and the Oker dam. If you continue along the Oker to the southernmost point of the hike, you will reach the Romkerhalle and the waterfall. The rustic inn with hotel and restaurant markets itself as the smallest kingdom in the worldand is the starting point for numerous other hikes. The nearby waterfall was artificially created in 1863 to increase the attractiveness of the facility. Since then, the Romkerhall waterfall has cascaded down around 64 metres at this point.

From here, the route heads back towards the starting point, but along the western side of the Oker. The next highlight is the path to Verlobungsinsel and finally Verlobungsinsel itself. The island lies in the middle of the Oker as a small romantic island that invites you to linger and relax to the sound of the water. The hike then continues close to the Oker past the equalising basin to the "romantic path through the Oker valley". The trail is a lovely way to end a strenuous hike between the Oker and Romkerhall and is a must for visitors to the Harz at any time of year.

The last two highlights of the hiking trail are the Marienklippe cl iff and the Adlerklippe cliff further north. Climbers can be seen climbing on the rock faces at both cliffs, especially in the warmer months. If you don't want to get active yourself, you can take a break and watch the climbers. After a few kilometres to the north, hikers return to the town of Oker and the hiking route ends.
