The "Round of Benneckenrode" is considered a difficult hike and requires surefootedness, good physical condition and ideally alpine experience. The duration of the hike is more than six hours and covers a total of over 19 kilometres. The starting point of the hike is the Rosstrappe bus stop, after which the first hiking highlight awaits the visitor after just a few metres. From the Bülowhöhe vantage point , you can look out over Thale and the route ahead.

The viewpoint takes its name from the chief forester "von Bülow", who made the paths around the Rosstrappe accessible to hikers.

Hikers first walk north, then turn downhill at Rosstrappe level and after 4 kilometres from the start of the hike they reach the hiking trail along the Bode River. Here you can enjoy the most beautiful nature as well as the sun and let your soul dangle. Continue along the Bode past Königsruhe to the Teufelsbrücke (Devil's Bridge). It is one of the hiking highlights of the Harz region and symbolises the return of man and river to civilised terrain. Just a little further on, you can hear the Bode flowing powerfully through the rocks in the Bodekessel - simply breathtaking. It is not for nothing that the Bodekessel is often jokingly called Germany's "little Grand Canyon".

Our hiking trail continues along the Bode for quite a while and finally leads to the Bodetal Hexenstieg at the westernmost point of the loop. The uniqueness of the wonderful landscape of the Bode valley or the Bode basin attracts numerous hikers, especially at weekends, so those who would rather enjoy the solitude during a hike should consider when they want to do the hike.

The next sight after a little more than 12 kilometres from the start of the hike is the La Viershöhe, which offers a wonderful view of the Bode Valley and the Harz foreland, in addition to the Harzer Wandernadel stamp point 72. The name of the height commemorates the head forester La Viers, who in the 19th century was the highest-ranking forestry official in the Prussian province of Saxony for the area of the Harz forestry regions.

The next highlight at the level of the Hexentanzplatz car park is another well-known vantage point, the Bodetalblick. There is basically nothing else to add to the name, as it offers a wonderful view of the picturesque landscape and the bare rock faces embedded in nature. After the next viewpoint, Bodetal / Thale, the hike leads back to the car park on the same path via a northern bend.
