Where is the cave town of Rübeland?
The cave town of Rübeland is a village in the Upper Harz, which belongs to the town of Oberharz am Brocken in the district of Harz in Saxony-Anhalt. Rübeland is located north of the Rappbode dam and south-east of the Brocken. Due to its location directly on the Bode River in the Bode Valley, the landscape in this town is particularly varied. In addition to the typical Harz spruce forests, nature lovers will discover a rare flora with a great wealth of wild berries and edible mushrooms.

The cave village of Rübeland is known above all for its stalactite caves and has therefore had the addition "cave village" in its name since 2004. The Baumannshöhle and Hermannshöhle caves are among the most famous and also the oldest stalactite caves in Germany. Theatre plays and concerts are performed in the caves between stalagmites and stalactites, as the acoustics and natural stage in the caves are fascinating.

In the immediate vicinity of the cave village of Rübeland, the Rappbode dam is home to the Titan, wallrunning and a Megazipline. Harzdrenalin promises pure thrills and breathtaking views.
Is a visit worthwhile?
It's not just attractions like Harzdrenalin that attract visitors to the town. The stalactite caves are also mystical and fascinating at the same time - for both nature and culture lovers. There are also several stamping points for the Harz Hiking Needle in the village and the surrounding area. In our eyes, the cave village of Rübeland is therefore definitely worth a visit.
A detour to the Blue Lake is a must. It is only around one kilometre away between Rübeland and Hüttenrode and looks different at any time of the year and day.
