The cycle route starts north-east of the town of Clausthal-Zellerfeld at the Wildemann bus stop, which is accessible by all means of transport. From there, the 13-kilometre, three-and-a-half-hour route heads north to the first cycling highlight: the Grumbach Pond.
Like other ponds around Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Hahnenklee and Wildemann, the Grumbach Pond near Hahnenklee-Bockswiese was created artificially and is therefore part of the Harz Water Regal. The pond offers great opportunities for a rest amidst the idyllic atmosphere. Well rested, the route continues northwards past the Gustav Adolf stave church near the Liebesbankweg trail up to the Granetalsperre dam. Built between 1966 and 1969, the Granetalsperre dam in the Goslar highlands is used for drinking water supply, flood protection, water regulation and power generation and offers cyclists a wonderful view of the cool water in some places.
A short distance further on through the town of Goslar, past the Herzog Juliushütte, the route finally continues westwards to the Innerstetalsperre. It serves the same purpose as the Granetalsperre and offers hikers and cyclists along the southern shore ideal viewing points over the Innerstestausee reservoir. Finally, the route leads through the small town of Lautenthal back to Wildemann.
