Castle by the lake
Stiege Castle is one of the few almost completely
buildings from the early High Middle Ages that have been preserved in their entirety. The castle is located
in the eponymous district of Stiege in the town of Oberharz am Brocken in
Saxony-Anhalt. It is assumed that the castle was built around 919 during the reign of
Henry I's reign as a hunting lodge. It was probably also used
