Experience the Harz Mountains with just one card - the HarzCard! It gives you free admission to around 100 museums and leisure facilities throughout the Harz region. Whether exciting museums, animal experiences or action-packed attractions, the HarzCard makes your stay in the Harz even more varied and convenient.

The HarzCard is available in two versions and can be used either on consecutive days or flexibly throughout the year. How many of the almost 100 facilities you visit is up to you - the only upper limit is the time limit (48 hours or 4 days). You can use the tiles above this text here on Harzspots.com to browse specifically for participating partners in categories such as attractions, accommodation, gastronomy, shopping or culture and select your personal highlights.

Which versions of the HarzCard are available?

There are two variants: The 48-hour HarzCard is valid for two consecutive calendar days from the first use and costs €32 for adults, €22 for children aged 5 to 14, children up to the age of 4 use it free of charge. The 4-day HarzCard is valid for four freely selectable days within a calendar year and costs €65 for adults and €45 for children aged 5 to 14. The 48-hour version is suitable for a compact short holiday, while the 4-day version is ideal for several stays a year.

Where can I buy the HarzCard?

The HarzCard can be purchased locally at numerous sales outlets in the Harz Mountains or conveniently ordered online via the link on this page. There are two options when ordering online: Either the slightly discounted, completely digital version, which is immediately available as a PDF and wallet file for your smartphone, or the analogue card in checkbook format, which is sent by post. Additional postage costs apply.

How long is the HarzCard valid for?

The validity always ends on 31 December of the year in which the card is used for the first time - regardless of the date of purchase. So if you buy the card in January, you can use it for a maximum of twelve months. If you only buy it in the summer, it is only valid until the end of the year.

Do I have to use the 4-day HarzCard on consecutive days?

No. The four days can be chosen at will within a year as long as they are used before 31 December. There can be any number of breaks between the individual days.

Can I visit the same facility more than once with the HarzCard?

That depends on the respective facility. If the HarzCard benefit states "free admission once", only one visit is possible. If this is not stated, multiple visits are permitted, but with a four-hour blocking period between admissions.

Is a trip to the Brocken possible with the 48-hour HarzCard?

No. The one-way trip to the Brocken on the Harz narrow-gauge railway is only included in the 4-day HarzCard.

When and how is the HarzCard activated?

The card is activated on the first visit to a participating establishment. The card is scanned at the ticket office and the period of validity begins at this point. The user's name must be entered on the card beforehand.

Does the HarzCard offer discounts for people with a severely disabled pass?

No. Many facilities grant people with a severely disabled pass discounts or free admission anyway, which is why it is often not worth buying the HarzCard for this group of people. The following also applies to the Harz narrow-gauge railway: severely disabled persons with a valid pass and token are transported free of charge. Accompanying persons also travel free of charge if the severely disabled person's ID card bears the "B" mark.

Can I give the HarzCard as a gift?

Yes, the HarzCard can be purchased as a blank card. The recipient enters their name and the start date of use themselves as long as the card has not yet been activated. It can therefore be given as a gift even if the date of the trip has not yet been set.
