Our "Bodetal - Bodekessel Runde" starts in Thale and leads along the Bode through the Bode valley past sights and viewpoints such as the Sonnenklippe, the Bodetal Hexenstieg, the Teufelsbrücke and Jungfernbrücke bridges and the Hexenbrückebridge. The starting point of the hike is Thale railway station , from here the hike first aims for the Bode River, where hikers eventually reach the hiking trail along the Bode. The tranquil and unspoilt nature of the Bode literally captivates every hiker and offers an unforgettable experience in a class of its own.
If you continue to follow the path along the Bode, you will eventually come across the Jungfernbrücke bridge right next to the Königsruhe inn. The name of the Jungfernbrücke is due to the filigree construction of the bridge . It was said that only virgins could cross the bridge, as it might otherwise collapse. However, anyone who wants to cross the bridge today does not have to be a lightweight; after all, the bridge has already outlasted this kind of tale by several centuries.
What follows are the next two bridges, the Witches' Bridge and the Devils' Bridge. The Devil's Bridge signals the return to civilised terrain. At this point, anyone who wants to can look forward to a beer, wine or home cooking at the nearby Königsruh Inn. Now continue for a few kilometres through the Bode Valley past the Bodekessel to the Hexenstieg (Witches' Path ) and the Sonnenklippe (Sun Cliff), which is at the furthest point of the hike.
TheSonnenklippe is one of the mystical and legendary places in the Bode Valley where a beech tree has clung to the rock for many years. In addition to the great view over the valley, the Sonnenklippe also has the stamp box 69 of the Harzer Wandernadel. If you like, you can extend the hike by 15-20 minutes to Treseburg Castle, where several restaurants invite you to stop for a bite to eat. The trail then leads back the way it came.
